Taras GarapiakTaras is a commercial litigator with arbitration trial experience. He represents businesses and individuals from a wide range of industries in complex business disputes in state and federal courts.

Taras is a tenacious fighter who works tirelessly to protect his clients’ interests. Taras focuses his practice upon a variety of litigation matters in the areas of partnership disputes, business torts, fiduciary duty, and breach of contract cases.

Taras was born and raised in Ukraine. He speaks both Ukrainian and Russian. Taras’ background provides him with unique and different perspectives on business disputes. Taras has been able to leverage his language skills to protect clients during every step of litigation, including during depositions. Taras joined Esbrook P.C. in August of 2024.


Selected Breach-of-Contract Litigation
  • Successfully litigated and settled numerous non-compete and non-solicitation breach of contract cases.
  • Successfully defended a medical practice in a breach of contract case related to a contract for provision of software services to the medical practice.
Selected Business Torts Litigation
  • Second chaired a multi-day arbitration trial in a shareholder oppression case and successfully obtained a six-figure award on behalf of the client.
  • Asserted breach of fiduciary duty claims on behalf of a minority shareholder in a transportation logistics company.
  • Successfully defended against a motion for summary judgment in a federal fraud case and subsequently achieved a favorable settlement on behalf of a defrauded investor.
Selected Complex Commercial Litigation
  • Successfully defeated a preliminary injunction request in a dispute involving a sale of assets of a medical practice worth $30 million.
Selected Class Action Litigation
  • Member of the litigation team in a class action against the City of Detroit and other defendants for claims arising out of grossly negligent burial practices.
