Heather A. BartelsHeather Bartels is a litigation associate with a strong focus on complex commercial litigation, including insurance, restructuring, product liability, bankruptcy, and breach of contract cases. Throughout her career, she has represented a diverse range of clients, tackling high-stakes challenges such as a bet-the-company antitrust class action in the protein industry and a putative class action under the Illinois Genetic Information Privacy Act. Heather’s experience also extends to working on putative class actions within the automotive industry.

In addition to her professional practice, Heather is deeply committed to pro bono work. She has filed a habeas corpus petition in federal court and played an instrumental role in obtaining asylum for a citizen of Chad. During law school, Heather represented veterans in southeast Michigan, providing invaluable advice on family law matters and housing defense.

Heather earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School and she remains a dedicated fan of the Wolverines.
